New for 2006, the Rabbit offers versatility and comfort in a simple package.

Slightly entertaining, but the engine isn't particularly encouraging.

Passenger space and visibility are better than average. Ride, while firm, is well controlled and smooth.

Simple and logical control layout. Generous cargo room is made more flexible via a 60-40 split rear seat.

Not as sporty as the GTI, but the hatch design is still distinctive. The interior materials are plainer, too.
