Best "Mid-Size" Truck
Vehicle
2006 Nissan Frontier Nismo 4dr Crew Cab 4WD SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I traded a 2003 Ford Ranger FX4 Level II for my 2006 NISMO Crew Cab 4x4. The Ranger was a decent truck but it got horrid gas mileage (avg about 14 with 80/20 city/highway). I love my NISMO so much more than the Ranger. It's a little bigger but it's more powerful, has a better ride, and handles way smoother. It also feels much more solid than the Ranger. I have to watch my driving because the truck wants to go fast! I can definitely feel sports car roots in the truck. The engine is smooth and refined and well matched to the 5- speed automatic. Fuel economy is around 16 in town and I get a solid 20 on the highway. The truck is a pleasure to drive.
Favorite Features
Refined and powerful engine that uses regular fuel, smooth transmission, bold looks, fun to drive.
Suggested Improvements
Brake feel is too soft, gas and brake pedals are a little too close to each other, should offer sunroof without roof rack.

Forget Toyota
Vehicle
2006 Nissan Frontier SE 4dr King Cab 4WD SB (4.0L 6cyl 6M)
Review
I really did love my Toyota, it saved my life from a 5 time DUI villain. The truck and I both sustained injuries but Toyota did not survive. I test drove both. In the end I went with Nissan for the following reasons. Nissan offers a king cab 4wd v-6 six speed for about the same price as a reg cab 4wd 4 banger Tacoma. Also the Nissan has alot more room inside. When I was hit, I cracked my head on the doorpost. I know several Tacoma owners who have identical scars. The reason is, the doorpost on a Tacoma is about 2 inches from your head. The Frontier is just much more truck, drives like a caddie, stronger v-6 than my 96 Firebird, and 6 speed gets 20 mpg. And somehow I found an honest dealer
Favorite Features
6 speed is wonderful, styling is best on market, VERY strong v6. It drives like a large car with hardly any road noise. Best truck I've ever owned. Passenger seat folds into perfect cube so as to have a writing or laptop surface. VERY COOL!!
Suggested Improvements
Needs a little more interior storage, such as seat pockets. Although dual opening glove compartment can't be beaten.

This is my 4th nissan truck, the '06 is by far the best mid size you can buy. Super reliable and fun to drive ( it's got zip)rides great what else do you want. Many more features on the '06 not on the older models, they hit a home run with this one.
Favorite Features
Motor, runs unbelievably strong and gets fair gas mileage at the same time
Suggested Improvements
more color choices, interior could be a little more dressed up.
15 months w/my Frontier
Vehicle
2006 Nissan Frontier LE 4dr Crew Cab SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I have had my Frontier for almost a year & 1/2 now. I use it for personal/family, not really as a truck. I love the bed for carrying things I would have to squeeze into a car trunk, like Little League equip. I purchased an aftermarket locking bed cover, so it makes it much more useful. I love everything about this truck except large turning radius & poor gas mileage (about 14 mpg in local driving). It feels comfortable & looks great.
Favorite Features
sunroof, 4wd, mirror w/temperature & compass display, and high seating position for road visibility.
Suggested Improvements
better mileage, smaller turning radius

No Doubt About It
Vehicle
2006 Nissan Frontier XE 4dr King Cab SB (2.5L 4cyl 5A)
Review
I was torn between the Tacoma and the Frontier. After driving the Frontier I knew it was the truck for me. I had one in the late 90's and it was the best vehicle I ever had. The new Frontier is leaps and bounds better. It is bigger more powerful and fun to drive. And Carmax was the BEST buying experience I ever had.
Favorite Features
It sits high on the road, so even though it is a small truck, it feels like a truck.
Suggested Improvements
I wouldn't change a thing.

I've had this truck for 3 months and I love it! I bought it so I could do some beach driving in NC. This truck went through 8" of sand without any trouble at all. Good to know I can get to where the fish are. Find it to be a solid, well built vehicle. Am getting decent gas mileage
Favorite Features
Power, styling
Suggested Improvements
Gas economy could improve but as they say, it's a truck
NISSAN FRONTIER NISMO - BY ALS
Vehicle
2006 Nissan Frontier Nismo 4dr King Cab 4WD SB (4.0L 6cyl 6M)
Review
Based upon independent research and test driving all the trucks that are in the price and mid-size range, I feel that Nissan stands slightly above the Toyota Tocoma in performance and off road abilities. Nissan needs to continue their efforts to improve their weight to horsepower performance ratio. Toyota is a fierce competitor with an enormous funding base. If Nissan develops an engine for their Frontier that puts out 300 horsepower (stock) I Would buy it tomorrow.
Favorite Features
My favorite internal feature is all the many different storage compartments in the cab area.
Suggested Improvements
Produce a performance truck that competes with the Ford F150 Lightning.
