Mitsubishi Outlander vs. Subaru Forester
Re: Angles of approach/departure [ateixeira]
I looked these up for the AWD/4WD thread, but they are relevant since we seem to be comparing everything under the sun: Angle of approach: Forester 24.8 degrees, Outlander 21 degrees Angle of departure: Forester 24.8 degrees, Outlander 18 degrees The concern here would be the Outlander's angle of departure. You may get the front bumper past an obstacle, but ... Read More...
Re: Test drove the Forester 2.5XT today [kdshapiro]
The symmetrical AWD and boxer engine makes the center of gravity in the Forester lower. The reality is AWD/4WD have been around for about 100 years, but Subaru includes AWD with every vehicle. We can go back and forth back and forth and so far all the tests show that Outlander has a slightly better ski pad number so I would say handling is about the same. From most of ... Read More...
Re: Why doesn't the V6 perform better? [ateixeira]
Motorweek's test of the Outlander was even slower: 0-60 in 8.9 seconds. I did a double-take to make sure that was the V6, but it was. My point is the better 4 cylinder (normally aspirated) competitors can match that and are a lot more economical with fuel. Why get a V6 if it's not a significantly better performer? In fact, I wonder if Mitsubishi's own 2.4l with the ... Read More...

Why NOT to buy a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS
Re: Why NOT to buy a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS [chelentano]
Not quite - Subaru the awd can shift torque right to left and corner to corner as well as front to rear. Outlander cant do anything but go to rear and then with the lock turned off and simple awd engaged the wheels can spin their little hearts out until the stability control kicks in and applies a brake to the offending wheel or wheels and the car crawls to a halt. (first ... Read More...
Mitsubishi Outlander Long Term Viability
Re: Mitsubishi long term viability [prndldriver]
I'm a huge Mitsubishi car fan. I'm on numbers 2 and 3 now and thinking of getting a new Outlander. In the Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington area we now have 3 Mitsubishi dealers. Every dealership I have bought a vehicle from has went out of business. My first Mitsubishi was a 1997 Mirage LS Coupe, Bangkok blue. What a great car. I drove it 9 years with no problems ... Re: Outlander VS CX-7 [sssfegy]
>> "It looks more stylish vs. odd-looking CX-7" You call the Cx odd? How about unique? Different? Stylish?! Unique and different? Sure. Stylish? Not for my taste and not for the taste of majority CX-7 owners, who could not rate it very high for the exterior design on Edmunds.com. If CX-7 owners are not thrilled with CX-7 styling, imagine, what the non-owners think ... Read More...
Re: About doing your homework [nickel]
The Mitsubishis you drove were different animals. These were essentially Chrysler vehicles with Mitsubishi label. These cars were built in Illinois and they had Chrysler powertrain and parts made by Detroit suppliers. Thanks God, Mitsubishi divorced Chrysler in 2005. Chrysler certainly heavily damaged Mitsubishis reputation in US, which in fact affected ... Read More...
