Mitsubishi Outlander Long Term Viability
Re: Mitsubishi long term viability [prndldriver]
I'm a huge Mitsubishi car fan. I'm on numbers 2 and 3 now and thinking of getting a new Outlander. In the Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington area we now have 3 Mitsubishi dealers. Every dealership I have bought a vehicle from has went out of business. My first Mitsubishi was a 1997 Mirage LS Coupe, Bangkok blue. What a great car. I drove it 9 years with no problems ... Re: Mitsubishi long term viability [psychogun]
I'm pretty sure that Mitsubishi has decided to stay in the North American market also. I think if they were even considering leaving the U.S. then they would have done so in 2004 - 2005 when everyone in the automotive world said they would leave. The connections with the other Mitsubishi companies, MHI and MBOT in particular, allowed them a little breathing room ... Read More...
Re: Residual Values [aviboy97]
I, too, see Mitsubishi somehow following Mazda's strategy: build attractive cars and the sales will follow. I bought a Mazda3 2.3L back in 2005 because it looked great and it was the best bang for the buck by far. I felt about the same when I bought my Outlander. If Mitsu continues to improve its line-up and the build quality of their vehicles (get rid of the low budget ... Read More...
Getting a new Outlander, CR-V or RAV4
Re: getting a new car: RAV, CRV or Oulander? [blufz1]
>> So,then, why does the CRV outsell them both combined? Do you have a link for this kind of statistics? RAV has lately more problems (read feedback from real owners on Yahoo Autos) so it could be that the CRV is ahead. Outlander can not equally compete in sales figures due to much smaller dealer network in US. But Ive read that Outlander outsells RAV in Japan 3 to ... Read More...
Re: About doing your homework [nickel]
The Mitsubishis you drove were different animals. These were essentially Chrysler vehicles with Mitsubishi label. These cars were built in Illinois and they had Chrysler powertrain and parts made by Detroit suppliers. Thanks God, Mitsubishi divorced Chrysler in 2005. Chrysler certainly heavily damaged Mitsubishis reputation in US, which in fact affected ... Read More...
Lexus RX 350 vs. Mitsubishi Outlander XLS
Re: Lexus RX 350 vs. Mitsubishi Outlander XLS [bodble2]
Since you responded to my post, with all due respect, I think you misread it. If you go back and read the opening paragraph of my post, it will be hard not to understand that I said exactly the opposite of what you interpreted. And yes, I think you mistaken in your statement about the Outlander's V6 engine. The "World Engines" developed by Mitsu/Chrysler/Hyundai ... Read More...
Re: Lexus RX 350 vs. Mitsubishi Outlander XLS [dodo2]
Unless I'm mistaken, the current V6 in the Outlander is the love child of a menage a trois between Mitsu, Chrysler and Hyundai. So are you sure Mitsu and Chrysler parted ways in 2005? I would agree with you that the Outlander competes well against anything in its class and probably trumps most of the domestics, but there is no way, no how, you can convince me the Outlander ... Re: Lexus RX 350 vs. Mitsubishi Outlander XLS [bodble2]
The comparison between Outlander and RX350, RDX and X3 is, no doubt, pointless. No amount of features would make the Outlander a competition for the luxury brands. Bang for the buck yes and plenty. Coming back to the bases, the Outlander competes head to head with any other car in its class - mainstream compact SUV and that is RAV4, CRV, Santa Fe, CX-7 just to name ... Read More...
Re: Lexus RX350 is no Rolex [bodble2]
The latest RX350 model was introduced on the same year, as current 2007 Outlander: a year ago, why do you argue? Going from RX330 to RX350 suppose to be a major redesign. If not, then what, is it just a major marketing trick? Thats what I say: these entry-level luxury cars are more about marketing and less about luxury. Hybrid technology is still a niche market ... Re: Lexus RX350 is no Rolex [biscuit_xls]
Just to jump in here for a minute. I want to be clear, I haven't driven the RX350 or the Outlander, but I did have a close look at the outlander(Australian model) on display in Adelaide airport and spent a few weeks driving a mitsubishi 380 all over Australia. Mitsubishi probably makes up 40% of the market in Australia. The RX350 engine is a completely different design ... Read More...
