Overall

Ready for an update, the 2006 CR-V has been surpassed by Toyota's all-new RAV 4.

Dynamics

Handling, brakes, and engine power are merely OK, but have a unified character.

Comfort

Ride is not hard, but pitchy. Road and engine noise are noticeable, exacerbated by the constant need for high revs. Nice driving position.

Function

Functional interior, but the rear door swings the wrong way.

Design/Build Quality

Staid styling could use a refresh, but the interior materials and execution exude typical Honda quality.

Comfortable Highly versatile and roomy interior with a comfortable ride.

Daily Commuter Stable and car-like handling is superior to many of its competitors.

Fuel Efficient A standard 4-cylinder offers better fuel economy than its V6 competition.
