I change my oil, filter and lube between 5,000 or 6,000 milles. I drive a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox and like the Cobalt I have a "Oil Life Monitor" but I never wait for it to make my oil changes. If I'd go by the book, it's suppose to be every 12,000 milles or once a year. I don't care what they say in the book.... The oil is dumped every 5,000 milles. Read More...

I bought my Cobalt back in 2005 and I find my silver car losing the paint fading on both sides of my car with the trim. I can't believe what I am reading on here abnout my car the key sticking it has happened twice to me so far and now the fan isn't working for the air and heat when you turn it to the highest setting 4. You know I used to have a list of the test drives by different magazine, newspapers, etc., and they were all average to even best in class. The car came out in 2004 as a 2005 and was a vast improvement over the Cavaliar. hey charly . . . i have a 2005 cobalt and i may have the same problem . . . . recently (2 months ago) i noticed that oen of my headlights didnt work when i unlocked it with my remote. so i figured i need a new bulb . . then it came back on so i forgot about it. I have a 2005 cobalt, and this same issue was only the beginning of sorrows. When turning the brights on, all of the lights go out. You have to jiggle the switch to get anything back on. I drove a base model 5-speed 2008 Cobalt LS sedan this morning. Which engine and transmission on your 2008? You don't hear of any real chronic issues aside from maybe some interior and suspension noises here and there and your occasional power assist steering issue on 2005's.
