I'm in the same situation. My feeling is they're both exceptional vehicles that any discerning enthusiast would be happy with. Both possess excellent design, acceleration, handling, and panache. I do not know if VW offers the GTI with different suspension configurations. The Audi A3 2.0 T can be had regular or sport suspension, but the A3 3.2 AWD comes only in sport configuration. Sport config gives you very flat cornering and a very taut ride. Also, the Audis, for 2007, can be had with 19" wheels and ultra-low profile tires. With these street-creeders, ... Read More...

Hi phaedrus76. I know that all 2006 Audi A3 models that are leased through Audi Financial Services this money have a buy rate lease money factor of .00319. I am not sure what the residual values for the S-Line is like though. I believe that the addition of this package to models has some sort of impact upon their residual values, like a one point reduction or something ... Read More...

Audi does have a new 19 inch wheel that will be optional with the S line package for 2007. It's says it's a 20 spoke wheel, so it might look like the the A3 3.2 style wheel. Read More...

Quite interesting about the Haldex, as the Audi A3 Product manager I spoke to insisted that the Quattro in the A3 3.2 was Audi's alone. Perhaps he was referring to a special calibration of that hardware instead? The chat made it very apparent that, at least in the A3, Audi was thinking __sport__ and nothing else for the application of their AWD. However, he commented ... Read More...

Maybe things will be different for 2007. 2006 was the 1st year for the A3 in the US. I doubt Audi was going to stick their neck out too far and put a very high residual on the A3 and cut the money rate factors down on a first year production vehicle. Also, the high-ups at Audi claim their profit margins are quite small on the A3, and it's mostly a break-even car here in the ... Read More...
