I can not believe I finally came across someone with the identical problem as mine. I thought I was crazy. The little A3 is an awesome car but it needs new tires every 5,000-7,000 miles. You certainly could get 25-30,000 miles out of them if you can handle excesive vibration and ear shattering humming. Its like driving your car with Mickey Thompson super swampers. ... Read More...

Hi guys. I have a 2006 A3 on lease in New England. The lease expires next month. I would like to buy the car. The residual is about $16k. I heard that dealers can buy it for $1k less than the residual. Audi currently has a "down to 0.9% APR on certified pre-owned cars" special advertised. I couldn't agree with you more. The car is overpriced. The head of the Audi Dealers Association in the US said the car is not moving because it is priced 10% too high. Sales of the A3 are very weak this year. My car was a 2006 pre-owned so I didn't get killed. I was offered a 2008 base model at $2000 under invoice but I decided to go with the fully loaded pre-owned. If they ... Read More...

At a dealer in CT, I was offered $200 under invoice for a nicely loaded 2008 A3 and $2000 under invoice for a pretty bare bones A3. I passed on both because he lured me back to the dealership when I told him I was going with 2006 pre-owned by telling me the fully loaded one was $2000 under invoice. I have only been driving my 2006 A3 for a about a week, but I love the 2.0T engine. I like it much better than the 225hp V6 I had in my 2003 530i that I traded in for the A3. At the top of my wish list would be a TDI engine. I had a 2004 Jetta TDI and loved the low end torque in the 100hp 1.9TDI. I have not driven the new Jetta with the 140HP TDI but I would think that engine would work ... Read More...

I'm on my second A3. The first one 2006 - 6 speed red/black cloth, I loved the car, but after 8,000 miles I thought I heard wheel bearing growl. At 13,000 miles I paid for a alignment, at 16,000 miles the tires were replaced, I split the cost of them with the dealer.
